Welcome
Welcome to "My X240" This is just a simple drag & drop website I built using Weebly. It's all about my "Great Wall, Series Two, X240 4WD Wagon". Due to financial constraints I have had to resort to a free version of the site which has it's limitations. These limitations are not as bad as I first thought though, and the only real issues are that I no longer have a dedicated domain name that I own, and secondly that I can no longer embed video.
In November 2011 my wife Kate and I purchased two of these vehicles, despite the naysayers objections and constant slagging of these vehicles, and I must say that we have been very happy with them both. The only major thing to go wrong was on my car and it was as a result of my own doing but more on that later. We chose not to buy these vehicles from our local dealer, for reasons I won't go into here, but chose a dealer based on a recommendation from a friend who also owns this model.
The dealer we chose, and I don't mind giving them a plug here at all, was "Beecham's Great Wall" at Caboolture. They are also a Holden dealer and recent winners of the Holden Grand Masters Award. I don't mind telling you that they have been great to deal with and have looked after us very well. You can also find them on Facebook. The Principle, Chris Beecham, and his wife Patty are both avid car lovers and it shows. Anyway, enough about them, they are great people but that's not what this website is about . It's all about my car. Well, let's get to it.
My Great Wall X240 is far from standard as you will soon see when you read the modifications page so I don't encourage anyone to go the places I go or do the things I do if you have a standard, off the shelf, vehicle. While is it not necessary to go to the lengths I have gone to I strongly suggest a minimum of changes such as under body armour and properly rated recovery points. The two points you see under the standard vehicle, one front left & one back left, are not recovery points. These are only tie down points to anchor the vehicle during transport. It's entirely possible that these points can be torn off the chassis and become a dangerous projectile if used in a recovery situation.
I would also suggest that if you buy any 4WD vehicle and wish to take it off road that if you are inexperienced in such things... Join a 4WD club or do an off road course, or both. A search on the internet should find what you need. This is not my first 4wd but it is the first one I have spent so much money on and while being far cheaper than others I have owned it is certainly no less capable. Don't get me wrong, it does have it's downsides/limits but then.... all cars do in their own way.
Please bear in mind also that if and when you start modifying your vehicle that your warranty may be affected. For example; even though my car is still under warranty, I wouldn't expect any help if my diff blew up as neither of my diffs are original equipment. I have given quite a few people a plug on this site and it is simply because they have all given me great products, advice, and/or service so I don't apologise for it one bit. I will finish this page by saying this; If you do go off road, travel in pairs, take recovery gear, know how to use it all and above all.... STAY SAFE!
